Finished Project

So I finally finished my afghan...we won't say how long it took, although considering most of my other projects it really didn't take that long. I am afraid though I definitely came in last place in my race against Sands and Anna. Oh well, it just feels good to get it finished. I was dreading putting it all together, but that actually turned out to be my favorite part. I found a great tutorial online to piece it together and then I made up my own edging pattern.

Back home from the Sunshine State...

I finally made it home safely. Thankfully the weather has warmed up slightly. Hopefully we won't get anymore snow. Today was rather interesting flying. My first flight was delayed almost two hours. Originally, I was supposed to have a three hour layer in Atlanta. I was thinking I would be rather bored. As it worked out, I had just enough time to grab lunch and catch my plane. Thankfully, I didn't have to change to a later flight. Most of the other passengers on the first flight had to reschedule their connecting flights. I will post pictures from the trip later...now I am heading to bed! :)

Off to the Sunshine State...

I am busy packing and getting ready to leave for vacation on Monday. I will be driving down to Florida with my parents and then flying home the following week. I didn't think I was going to be able to go but thankfully it has worked out for me to go with them. I am looking forward to a break from the cold weather and hopefully some time relaxing!!! :) I will be sure to post pictures.

Reading Challenge

Reading Challenge 2011

I have decided to take part of a reading challenge this year. I am sure I will read others along the way but here are some of the books I hope to read this year:

finish - Jane Eyre
finish - Hudson Taylor Vol. 1
finish - Creative Bible Teaching
finish - Order in the Church (required reading for college, not a book I would have chosen)
Changed into His Image
Victory Over Darkness
1 Jane Austen novel

This year instead of reading through the Bible I have decided to pick a book each month to study. Last year I got a late start on reading through my Bible in a year so for January I plan to finish that.

February - I, II, III John
March - to be decided

Mega Memory Month

This month I have decided to take part in Mega Memory Month. For this month you pick a certain passage to memorize. I have chosen one of my favorite chapters, John 15. Not sure if I will memorize the whole chapter, but I am hoping to make a dent. You can click the link above to participate in this event or perhaps just set a goal to work at on your own. What better way to start off the New Year by memorizing and meditating on God's Word?!!!

Pressing Forward into a New Year!

Happy New Year to all you my dear friends!!!

I must apologize for the lack of posts of late. To be quite honest I just haven't felt like posting. Have you ever felt like everything seems to be going wrong all at the same time? Have you felt the pressure of life and find yourself telling God that you just can't take any more? That is the way I felt quite a few times over the last several months. In the midst of all this where do you turn?

The last few weeks I have been clinging to the verse, 1Corinthians 10:13, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

God does not test us above our abilities. He knows my frame. He knows I am merely dust. Who could know me better than the One who made me? As I have meditated on this verse I have realized that God knows what I can handle. Even when I think I am beyond my limit, He knows what is best. He is seeking to make me into a finer vessel fit for the Master's use.  I may not be responsible for the trials in my life, but I am responsible for how I respond to them.

As I reflect upon this past year, I see how God has worked and how He has blessed. I look forward to the coming year and what God has in store for me. I know there will be more trials and testings. But I also know that as I walk in obedience to Him, there will be abundant blessings. God has already provided new opportunities of service for Him. Some of these opportunities are out of my comfort zone. But I know that He will enable where He has called.

I have chosen two verses as my theme for the coming year. I feel they are fitting as I seek to put the past behind and pressing on and move forward in my walk with my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Philippians 3:13-14
"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
